Prince George's County is ground zero for Big Tech's unchecked expansion in the DC metro area. We're the residents, parents, and workers who live with the consequences — and we're demanding accountability.
Why Prince George's County?
Prince George's County sits at the center of one of the nation's fastest-growing data center corridors. Dozens of facilities have been proposed or approved in recent years, bringing with them enormous electricity demand, water consumption, and noise — often in communities that already bear a disproportionate share of environmental burdens.
Our chapter formed because local parents and residents needed a voice in decisions that were being made without them. We believe communities deserve a seat at the table — and a pause button — before irreversible infrastructure is locked in.
What's at Stake Locally
Energy Demand
Data centers consume enormous amounts of electricity, straining the regional grid and driving up utility costs for families and small businesses.
Water Use
Cooling systems for large facilities can consume millions of gallons of water per day, competing with residential and agricultural needs.
Noise & Light
Industrial-scale cooling equipment runs 24/7, generating persistent noise and light pollution in residential neighborhoods.
Land & Environment
Greenspace, wetlands, and tree canopy are cleared for facilities that generate few local jobs relative to their footprint.
About Our Chapter
Mothers Out Front Prince George's County is a volunteer-led chapter of the national Mothers Out Front network. We organize parents, grandparents, educators, and community members who are concerned about the long-term impacts of unchecked technology infrastructure on our health, environment, and quality of life.
We are not anti-technology. We are pro-accountability. We believe that powerful industries must be subject to meaningful oversight, transparent environmental review, and genuine community input — especially when their infrastructure is sited in communities of color and working-class neighborhoods.
